Ibn Hazm
Open Pakistan Education Network (OPEN) borrows it’s teaching approach from Ibn Hazm (994–1064) of Córdoba (present-day Spain), and illustrated in the following diagram. To make the content easier to understand and absorb, each piece of literature, content, or verbiage is presented as a short and easy-to-understand knowledge as it fits into the overall universe.
Field-Subject-Topic-Notes
To enable learners a thorough grasp of the terms being imparted, each course is divided into Fields, Subjects, Topics, and subsequently their Notes, as shown in the above entity relationship diagram (ERD). Each Topic within a Subject is visualized using Coggle, so that educators and learners can physically see where the Topic lies in the Subject and it’s preceding and following Topics.
Examples
The following three diagrams illustrate three different examples using the above approach. The text following each diagram is used to present the Topic shown in the example.
Application Development → Computer Programming → Functions and Procedures → Notes
Artificial Intelligence → Understanding Neural Networks → Components → Notes
Cloud Computing → Microsoft Azure → Cloud Services → Notes
The Approach Summary
Placement: Each Course (Subject) and Topic in presented as a series of videos, slides, and notes in Urdu and English.
Simplicity: Each Topic video uses easy-to-understand terminology and language along with Notes.
Flexibility: To re-use digital assets and videos in other courses, each video is free from referencing other content, and the relationship exists in tree diagrams only.
